WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Tennis teams has departed on their journey north as they will participate in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Championship tournament in Lexington. Ky. With the Patriots looking to make a splash in the tournament, some of those athletes already made a big impact on their team in the classroom and for their efforts were awarded by the MSC.
Twenty-two MSC women’s tennis athletes earned Academic All MSC honors, conference officials announced on Wednesday. Four of those come from UC, giving the Patriots the most of any single team in the conference. Those Patriots earning the honor were Kaylyn Collette (London, KY), Lyndsay Collette (London, KY), Erin Hart (Corbin, KY), and Victoria Sissoms (Clinton, TN).
Twenty-four men’s athletes also earned Academic All MSC honors on Wednesday. Four more men from UC were named to the team, giving them the 2nd most of any team in the conference. Those Patriot men earning the award were Dan Fraser (Cooma, Australia), Cody King (McCreary County, KY), Tyler Smith (Central City, KY) and Kenny Wilson (Bowling Green, KY).
In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.
The Patriots will be in action on Thursday as they compete in the MSC Championships in Lexington, KY.
