Patriot volleyball picked middle of pack in MSC preseason poll

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Woman’s Volleyball program is coming into the 2013 season with a new presence. For the first time in seven years, a new coach will be on the Patriot sideline. Head coach Kathryn Hart takes over a program on the cusp of being one of the tops in the Mid-South Conference (MSC).

Coaches of the MSC have recently voted on the 2013 regular season polls. The UC ladies were picked to finish 6th in the MSC, receiving a total of 43 points. Georgetown College received the first place ranking with 79 points and 7 of 10 first place votes. Right behind Georgetown is defending back-to-back MSC champion Lindsey Wilson College with 75 total points and the remaining 3 first place votes. Rounding out the top 3 is Campbellsville University with 61 points.

Both MSC teams from Ohio came in 4th and 5th with Shawnee State University receiving 53 points and the University of Rio Grande with 51 points. Cumberlands is not concerned with its ranking because they know it’s where you finish, not where you start. Head coach Kathryn Hart commented on the poll, “Although we are picked low in the MSC polls, we hope that each game we continue to get better and at the end we’ll be able to be towards the top of a very tough MSC.”

The Patriot ladies are currently working hard on reaching their goal of being one of the tops in the MSC. You can watch the Patriot ladies on August 24th as they host their annual Alumni game at 2pm in the IM gym.
