WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Softball program is looking to rebound from a rough 2013 season where they went 10-36 on the year. The Mid-South Conference (MSC) released the softball pre-season ranking this week and UC was picked towards the back of the pack.
The Patriots were picked to finish 9th of 10 teams in the MSC for the upcoming season as they received 18 voting points. The Blue Raiders of Lindsey Wilson were the preseason favorites to win the conference garnering 6 of the 10 first place votes and 75 total voting points. Campbellsville was close behind with 2 first place votes and 74 total points. Cumberland University received the other 2 first place votes and the 3rd place ranking with 64 total points. Georgetown (61), Shawnee State (51), Rio Grande (39), St. Catharine (32), and Pikeville (27) fill out rankings 4-8 while Bluefield was picked 10th with 9 total points.
Head Coach Angie Dean and staff are working diligently with their players as they prepare for a great 2014 campaign. The Patriots will begin their 2014 season on February 11th in Barbourville, KY as they take on Union College in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1:00 pm.
