Pike Central Hawks replacing several key play makers

PIKEVILLE, Ky (WYMT) - The Pike Central Hawks made a trip to Prestonsburg Tuesday as part of our WYMT football interviews.

The Hawks finished the 2011 season with an 8-3 record. However, coming in to this season, they lose several of their play makers, including Alan Boggs at quarterback, Justin Smith at running back and Cory Shouse on both the offense and defensive side of the ball. (Shouse has transferred back to Breathitt Co). But Pike Central should bring back enough talent to be very competitive once again.

"Yeah, we lost quite a few good seniors last year. Matter of fact, a lot of them went to UPike", said assistant coach Jeff Mike.

"They will be playing there. A couple of them will be red shirting. Alan Boggs of course, Justin Smith the running back, and, quite a few lineman, so we lost a lot to seniors. We have some good seniors coming back, but we are going to be really young this year. We are starting a sophomore quarterback. He has done a really a good job though. He is working hard, and we are really pleased with how this group has worked, and paid attention. Just starting to click a little bit."
