BELFRY, Ky. (WYMT) - It is now time to announce our player of the week from the semifinal round of the football playoffs.
And it goes to two deserving backs, Belfry teammates Trenity Carr and Austin Hatfield. The duo combined for 250 yards and three touchdowns in the Pirates' win over Bourbon County, and both knew they needed to step up with Justin Johnson being out with an injury.
"Well yeah, we understood with Justin (Johnson) being out, he's a good halfback, some of the other players had to step up and do big things and make big plays happen, and that's what we had to do to step up and win the ball game," says Carr. "That's about it. That's all it took. (Austin Hatfield) is a great fullback. I mean, he stepped up. He's young. He's got two more years of high school left. I'm glad he's there. He's a true fullback. He looks good back there."
