LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Rick Pitino and his Cardinals had to comeback from 12 down in the second half to knock off Wichita State in Saturday's Final Four game, and Pitino says he never doubted that his team could win. One reason he never lost hope was because of the Mardi Gras Miracle, Kentucky's 31-point second half comeback over LSU in 1994, when Pitino was head coach of the Cats.
"I never think we're going to lose," says Pitino. "I mean, not since being down 31 points with 15 minutes to go on Fat Tuesday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I never thought we'd lose again when we're down. That doesn't mean we're going to win. We have lost, but that's the attitude."
