LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino is preparing for his induction into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame this weekend.
Pitino, along with six former coaches and players, will be inducted in Springfield, Massachusetts on Sunday. Pitino says his induction is a great honor, but it's an honor he's not earned alone. He's been blessed with great friends along the way.
"We've all heard the expression for many years that if you leave this earth with five friends, if you can count your friends on one hand, you're a very rich person. Well I'm one of the richest people in the world because I have a lot of friends that I cherish, a lot of friends; from Boston, from Lexington, from New York, to Louisville, to Providence. I have a lot of friends that I'm left with that are still very close to me today."
