Railsplitters jump two spots to No. 12 In NABC/Division II men's basketball poll

KANSAS CITY, MO -- The Lincoln Memorial University men's basketball team continues their ascension up the national poll, as the Railsplitters made the leap to No. 12 in the latest NABC/Division II men's basketball rankings, officials announced Tuesday afternoon.

Lincoln Memorial moved to 4-0 this season after a pair of dominating victories this past week. The Railsplitters traveled to Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, TN) for their first road test of the 2012-13 season and came away with a 73-52 win over the Trojans. They returned home over the holiday weekend to capture a 93-48 win over the Hiwassee College Tigers.

The Railsplitters have boasted a balanced scoring attack en route to attaining their perfect mark to open the season, lead by senior Jake Troyli's average of 17 points per game. Troyli (Largo, FL) has tallied double-figures in all but one game this season, marked by a 24-point outburst against Hiwassee on Saturday.

Senior Wally Jones and sophomore Lorenza Ross have bolstered the Railsplitters' backcourt with increased productivity this season. Jones (Greensboro, NC) has scored double-digits in all four games this season with an average of 12.5 points per contest. Ross (Savannah, GA) leads the team in assists (13) while also ranking third on the squad in scoring (10.5 points per).

Senior Dustin Craig (Knoxville, TN) has provided a potent one-two punch for the Railsplitters' frontcourt, as he is filling the void of injured preseason All-SAC selection Vincent Bailey with 9.8 points and a team-leading 8.5 rebounds per contest.

The Railsplitters are shooting 50.8% from the field as a unit this season, while holding their opponents to a 34.2% clip. Teams have been limited to a dismal 22% mark from the three-point line when matched against the stingy LMU defense. The Railsplitters are also out-rebounding their foes by more than 13 boards a game.

Lincoln Memorial holds an average margin of victory of 34 points this season.

The top-five of the NABC/Division II Coaches Poll remained unchanged after the first week of the regular season, with West Liberty retaining the top spot. No. 2 Washburn, No. 3 Metropolitan State, No. 4 Alabama-Huntsville and No. 5 Bellarmine rounded out the remaining spots in the top five.

The Railsplitters begin the next phase of their schedule this week with South Atlantic Conference play looming. LMU is set to open league play with a pair of contests on the road, beginning with Tusculum College on Wednesday, November 28th. LMU closes the week in Newberry, South Carolina where they face off against the Wolves of Newberry College on Sunday, December 2nd.
