HARROGATE, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial University men's basketball team achieved another milestone with the release of the NABC National Rankings for the week of January 31st. With the Railsplitters' ranking of ninth in the country, LMU breaks the South Atlantic Conference record for most consecutive weeks in the top-25.
With 22 consecutive weeks ranked in the NABC poll, the Railsplitters break the previous record of 21 consecutive weeks held by Wingate University.
The Railsplitters earned their first appearance in the NABC/Division II poll way back on December 7th, 2010, as their 7-0 start sprung Lincoln Memorial to the 24th position in the rankings. Since that time, LMU has been a fixture in the rankings. By February 8th, 2011, the Railsplitters shot all the way to 5th in the national poll. After finishing the 2010-2011 season with a 27-3 record, the Railsplitters ended at 10th in the country.
This season, Lincoln Memorial University has been a staple in the top-10 rankings in the country, as they started the season ranked 6th in the NABC poll. On January 10th, 2012, the Railsplitters made history when they were voted the number one team in the country with their 14-0 start. That marked the first men's basketball program in South Atlantic Conference history to acheive the number one ranking.
The 'Splitters now sit at 18-2 on the season and ranked ninth in the country. LMU looks to continue their dominant stretch of play as they head to Tusculum College on Wednesday evening for a South Atlantic Conference battle. Tip is set for 8 p.m.
