INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The first NCAA regional rankings of the season were released on Thursday and the no.8 Railsplitters topped the Southest Region poll.
This poll stands as the official poll recognized in the championship selections by the Division II Men's Basketball Committee.
The Railsplitters are currently 23-2 on the season and 13-2 in the South Atlantic Conference. They are riding a six-game winning streak heading into Saturday's matchup with the Anderson University
Trojans, who sit atop the SAC standings.
Along with their number one regional ranking, the Railsplitters are near the top in several statistical categories throughout NCAA Division II. They currently sit at 1st in the nation in rebound margin as they are averaging a +12.2 differential. LMU is 2nd in field-goal percentage defense (37%) and scoring margin at +21.3 differential. They are third in win-lost percentage at 92 percent and eighth in both scoring offense (84 points) and field-goal percentage (52%).
The Railsplitters are led in scoring by Vincent Bailey, averaging 11.6 points an outing. Jake Troyli, Desmond Johnson, and Brandon Armstrong are all averaging more than ten points a game for LMU.
Lincoln Memorial takes on Anderson University, currently ranked eighth in the Southeast Region, on Saturday, February 18th. That game is scheduled to tip at 8 p.m. at Tex Turner Arena.
