HARROGATE, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial University men's basketball team continues to stride into national prominence. On Tuesday, December 6th, the Railsplitters moved into the third in the NABC Division II Men's Basketball Poll. This is the highest ranking achieved in the history of the Lincoln Memorial University basketball program.
This record achievement surpasses the 1975-76 season in which the Railsplitters appeared in the NAIA Final Four and finished the season fourth in the country. This ranking also ties the highest ranking ever achieved by a South Atlantic Conference school.
The Railsplitters are off to an 8-0 start on the season as they are outscoring their opponents by an average margin of 27, which ranks first in the SAC. LMU also leads the SAC in scoring defense, field goal percentage, field goal percentage defense, rebounding margin, and assists.
Vincent Bailey is leading the Railsplitters in scoring at 12.4 points a game. Desmond Johnson and Brandon Armstrong are adding ten points a game respectively.
Lincoln Memorial will look to continue their unblemished season and run up the national rankings on December 7th, as Ohio Mid-Western College travels to Harrogate, Tennessee for non-conference action.
That game is scheduled to tip at 7 p.m.
