ROCK HILL, SC -- The South Atlantic Conference announced the regular season awards on Thursday afternoon and the No.17 Railsplitters were well-represented with three selections.
Desmond Johnson, the reigning South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, was named First Team All-SAC for his performance throughout the 2012 season. Johnson averaged 10.9 points and 6.9 rebounds a contest for the season. He turned it up down the stretch as he notched a double-double in four of the last five games.
Senior guard, Brandon Armstrong, was also a First Team All-SAC selection. For the year, Armstrong averaged right at ten points a contest while pulling in 3.9 rebounds a game and leading the team in assists with 103 on the year. Armstrong also leads the team in minutes as he averaged 32 minutes a game for the season.
The Railsplitters also received an All-Freshman honoree as Lorenza Ross garnered those honors. As one of the primary guards for Lincoln Memorial University, Ross averaged 4.5 points a game in 14 minutes a contest.
The Railsplitters will continue play in the 2012 Food Lion south Atlantic Conference Tournament on Saturday, March 3rd in Hickory, North Carolina. They will face off against the third-seeded Bulldogs of Wingate University at 2:30 p.m.
