HARROGATE, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial University men's basketball team remained perfect on the season with a dominant 91-65 victory over the Bulldogs of Union College on Thursday evening.
With the win, the Railsplitters move to 3-0 on the season.
Carlos Sanford led the Bulldogs as he recorded a game-high 18 points. Ian Davis was the only other Union player with double digits as he notched ten points. Brent Cork grabbed nine boards to led the Bulldogs.
The Railsplitters benefitted from an all-around, balanced offensive performance as 13 players scored for LMU in the game. Brandon Armstrong led the charge with 16 points, followed closely behind by Desmond Johnson's 15. Dustin Craig provided a strong effort off the bench as he poured in 13 points. Cam Carden rounded out the double digit performers as he added 12 for the game. Vincent Bailey grabbed seven boards to led that category for LMU.
A jumper by Desmond Johnson put the first points of the game on the board and gave the Railsplitters a lead that they would not relinquish. The opening minutes of the first half would remain tight as the Bulldogs only trailed the Railsplitters by a score of 25-21 with 7:21 remaining. Lincoln Memorial pulled away with a 20-9 run to close the half as they took a 45-30 lead into the break.
Union cut the deficit to six with a 9-0 run to begin the second half. The Railsplitters would answer with a 29-9 run of their own to grab a 74-48 lead with seven minutes remaining in the game. The Railsplitters pushed the lead out to 30 points in several different occasions in the closing minutes as they concluding a dominant 91-65 victory.
Lincoln Memorial will be back in action on Saturday, November 19th as they travel to Lees-McRae for a nonconference matchup. That game is scheduled to tip at 4 p.m.
