CONOVER, NC -- The Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team is ranked 10th in the NCAA Southeast Region, placing them squarely in position to compete in the NCAA Southeast Region Tournament pending the results of the South Atlantic Conference Championship. This announcement came on Thursday afternoon from the NCAA Southeast Region office.
The Railsplitters are currently ranked 35th nationally according to the most recent Golfstat rankings. Prior to the Argonaut Invitational, LMU was riding a streak of ten tournaments finishing in the top-5, with two wins, two second-place finishes and three third-place finishes on the season.
In September, the Railsplitters fired a two-day total of 569 (+1) to take the one-stroke victory in the Tusculum Fall Classic. LMU opened the spring season by finishing in a tie for first at the Outback Steakhouse Intercollegiate.
Eric Kennedy is leading the way for the Railsplitters this season as he is holding a 72.79 stroke average in 19 rounds this season. Jamie Chapman has been exceptional this season with a 74.26 stroke average in 19 rounds.
The Railsplitters' roster has been bolstered by the a couple of freshmen playing at a high level. In ten rounds this year, Tre Mullins holds a 74.6 stroke average. Braden Galyon has been a welcome addition, firing a 75.47 average in 17 rounds this season.
Senior Joshua Cornett has continued his success on the course this year with a 74.89 average, playing in 19 rounds.
UNC Pembroke currently resides in the top spot in the NCAA Southeast Region. They are also ranked 7th in the most recent Golfstat rankings.
The Railsplitters will hit the course this weekend as they travel to Conover, North Carolina for the South Atlantic Conference Championship. The tournament is slated for 54 holes at Rock Barn Golf & Spa beginning on April 15th.
