Railsplitters Shut Out Eagles, 3-0

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- The LMU men's soccer team improved to 3-0 in South Atlantic Conference play and 4-2-2 overall with the 3-0 victory at Carson-Newman Wednesday evening.

Mario Pinto got things going for the Railsplitters in the 22nd minute when his shot caromed off a defender and the keeper and went in, putting LMU up 1-0.

Less than six minutes later LMU scored again when Yuri Passos' shot from 25 yards out got past the keeper.

The Eagles attempted to come back in the second half, outshooting LMU 14-6 in that frame, but LMU's Chris Nash put the game away in the 89th minute when his shot from midfield hit the open goal after C-N moved keeper Michael Alley up the field.

LMU keeper Michael Watkins earned the shutout as he had stopped 11 Eagle shots on goal.

The Railsplitters will next travel face North Georgia Saturday afternoon in Columbus, Georgia.
