The tournament kicked off with a flurry of points by the West Virginia Scott Co SkyHawks as they defeated the Allen Central Rebels by the score of 55 -28. Leading the SkyHawks was David Ward with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Also contributing to the effort was Matthew Dolan with 9 points and 5 rebounds. The Rebel defense was no match for the SkyHawks commanding offense. Johnson Central Eagle vs. Hurley Rebels

DECEMBER 28, 2010 – The EQT Energy Classic celebrates the 58th Pikeville Invitational Basketball Tournament. The second game of the tournament was a seesaw battle between the Johnson Central Eagles and the Hurley Rebels with the Eagles pulling off a late victory with a score of 55 - 53. Leading the effort for the Eagles was Wade Skaggs with 28 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Keeping the game close for the Rebels was Austin Cooper with 23 points, 6 rebounds, and assists. The Eagles advance to the quarterfinals where they face the Scott Co SkyHawks at 6:30 PM at Pikeville High School on Wednesday.

Avella Eagles vs. Lawrence Co Bulldogs

DECEMBER 28, 2010 – The EQT Energy Classic celebrates the 58th Pikeville Invitational Basketball Tournament. The third game of the tournament sparked quickly with the Avella Eagles from Pennsylvania snowballing over the Lawrence Co Bulldogs by the score 61 – 29. Leading the charge for the Eagles was Cameron Geresti with 16 points. Also contributing to the team effort was Damon Cupp with 14 points and 12 rebounds. The Bulldogs Logan Young had 8 points and 4 rebounds. The Bulldogs defense was no match for the high-powered offense of the Eagles. The Eagles advance to the quarterfinals where they face the Pikeville Panthers at 8:15 PM at Pikeville High School.

Game 4

Pikeville Panthers vs. Tolsia Runnin Rebels

DECEMBER 28, 2010 – The EQT Energy Classic celebrates the 58th Pikeville Invitational Basketball Tournament. The first round of basketball finished up with the Pikeville Panthers defeating the Tolsia Runnin Rebels by a score of 72 - 45. The Panthers dominated the entire game. The team was led by Will Branham with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Also contributing to the overall effort was Ethan Rowe with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. The Panthers outscored the Rebels in the second half 48 to 29. The Rebels defense was no match for the high-powered offense of the Panthers. The Panthers advance to the quarterfinals where they face the Avella Eagles from Pennsylvania at 8:15 PM at Pikeville High School this Wednesday.
