Rice takes over at Sheldon Clark

SOMERSET, Ky. (WYMT) - A big high school basketball coaching change happening today.

Former Southwestern girls basketball coach Tim Rice has accepted the same position at Sheldon Clark. Rice spent nine seasons with the Lady Warriors where he compiled a 166-106 record, and won five 48th District championships. A native of Betsy Layne, Rice says being closer to home was the main motive in his decision.

"It was a very hard decision because I had been (at Southwestern) a long time and we've had a very successful program over a number of years," says Rice. "It just came down to wanting to get back, closer to my home and my family. That was really, I guess, the underlying motive of me wanting to go, is just to get back closer to my home, back to where I grew up, and things like that."
