MOREHEAD, Ky. – Seniors Amber Riddle and Kayla Ashbrook have been honored as All-Ohio Valley Conference selections by College Sports Madness.
Riddle, a senior first baseman from Morehead, Ky., has been tabbed as a first-team selection. She started all 49 games in 2013 and finished second on the team with a .358 batting average. Her single season totals for home runs (9), total bases (83), slugging percentage (.606), walks (31) and RBI (40) were good for top-10 on the MSU lists. She also finished her career as the the all-time leader at MSU in home runs (36), RBI (148), walks (109) and on-base percentage (.435).
She was named First-Team All-OVC by the league, and was a College Sports Madness All-OVC preseason selection in 2013.
Ashbrook, a senior shortstop from Canton, Ohio, is a second-team selection. She played in all 49 games, including 48 as a starter, and finished with a .301 batting average. Ashbrook tied for a team-high in doubles (10) and was second in home runs (9) and RBI (36). In 2013, she finished on the all-time MSU single-season list for total bases (84). After a four-year career with the Eagles, Ashbrook ranks on the all-time MSU lists for home runs (17), RBI (108), games played (203), runs scored (117), hits (192), total bases (282) and she is the career-leader in at bats with 655.
The Eagles finished their season 24-25 overall and 10-14 in league play.
