HINDMAN, Ky. (WYMT) - The Knott Central Lady Patriots will have several voids to fill this season with the departure of four starters from their lineup.
Head coach Jeff Honeycutt and his returning seniors are optimistic though that they will have enough to compete in the 14th Region. Honeycutt says one thing this season's team has is versatility, and the ability to play various styles of basketball.
"We can play two different ways. I like to play up and down the floor and really get after teams, and the girls like that better too," says Honeycutt. "Playing up-tempo helps get more people playing time, gets more shots up. But developing size will help us maybe take advantage of teams that don't have the size that we do."
"Hustle. Sophomores, we have a really good sophomore class. They're hustlers and can play defense fast. They can handle the ball," says Savannah Hatmaker, a senior forward. "We're all good shooters."
"We're a really good defensive team," says senior guard Hayley Short. "(The younger players) hustle. They go after the ball, and they never quit. They just hustle all the time."
