INEZ, Ky (WYMT) - The Sheldon Clark Lady Cardinals were runner-up in the 15th Region Championship last season they lost to Shelby Valley 40-31.
Looking to this season, the Lady Cards are hoping to get back to the Region Championship game, and win it.
They have a new coach this year in Tim Rice, and they lost their two leading scorers.
Coach Rice wants his team to step up and fill the scoring holes lost to graduation.
Head Coach Tim Rice said, "My philosophy is, if we can get 50 or 60 points per game, it doesn't really matter how we're going to get them. If you can get five people to get ten each, you still get 50. If you got one girl who just gets 50, then you get 50. I kind of like to stress that we could get 3 or 4 girls in double figures and a couple girls in the 7 or 8 mark and still reach our goal of 55 points a game."
Sophomore Guard Emily Waller said, "Well, I think we all should try our best to get in the game, and rebound and put the ball back up and score, and also assist a lot more, fill in our roles, it just can't be one person trying to fill, we all have to fill that position. "
Junior Guard Kelsey Dean said, "Well I think we're all going to have to step up some, we're going to have to come a lot closer together, where we lost two players and our from like ten or eight years. So we're all going to have to step up, it's not just going to be one person"
Junior Forward Alison Scott said, "I think that this team could go pretty far, I think we could make it to the Regional Championship. And that excites me because like everybody we want to win, and I think this team can do that."
