HI HAT, Ky. (WYMT) - The South Floyd Raiders are hoping for better results under second-year head coach Justin Holbrook.
The Raiders went just 6-23 last season but with three starters returning expectations are high, but Holbrook says the main focus right now is improving and competing harder.
"Really just trying to compete a little bit harder," says Holbrook, who is entering his second season with the Raiders. "Last year, coming in, it was a little bit tougher. We had a couple underclassmen playing a little bit more, and everybody is a year older. We bring back three starters, so everybody got to stay together this summer."
"I think offensively we'll be really good because we got a pretty good shooting guard, we got a good forward, and we got a pretty good center," says senior forward Toby Tackett. "I think we'll be really good on the offensive side of the ball."
"We just got to really learn to play harder," says Austin Bailey, a senior guard.
"We pass the ball pretty good," adds senior forward Tyler Daniels. "We can shoot outside and inside."
"Work hard every day in practice. I push people and make sure they get better because that's what I did my freshman year. I was pushed to get better and I'm doing the same when I'm a senior now," says senior Michael Martin, the team's center.
