LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Tyler Thacker scored 16 of his career-high
25 points in the first half to lead Rowan County past North Laurel
64-46 in the first round of Kentucky's Sweet Sixteen basketball
tournament.
Thacker connected on nine-of-13 shot attempts, including a
four-of-six from 3-point range, as Rowan County (26-7) advanced to
the state tournament quarterfinals for the second straight season.
The Vikings forced eight turnovers and used a 10-3 run during
the second quarter to pull away from North Laurel, which was making
its first appearance in the state tournament.
The Jaguars could never get on track offensively, connecting on
only 18-of-53 (34 percent) shots from the floor and committing 14
turnovers. Jake Allen led North Laurel with 19 points.
The Vikings will face Southwestern in the second round on
Friday.
