Seven-Run 7th Propels Union Past No. 14 Georgetown

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union baseball team's offense was firing on all cylinders Tuesday as it defeated visiting No. 14 Georgetown (Ky.) 12-2 in seven innings.

The win improves the Bulldogs to 30-19 on the year, while the Tigers fall to 41-9 overall. This was the final home game of the year for Union.

Scheduled for nine innings, the game was called in the seventh after Union put up seven runs in the frame to give it the 12-2 cushion.
Up 5-2 in the seventh, the Bulldogs had 11 batters come to the plate. Union recorded only four hits during the rally but took advantage of two Georgetown errors, three walks and one hit batter. Gabby Juarbe (San Juan, P.R.) led off the frame with a triple as Tim DeVito(Glendale, Ariz.), Joe Engle (Sidney, Ohio) and Brandon Hedrick (Corbin, Ky.) each drove in a run to make it an 8-2 contest. Pinch-hitter Zach Gross (Bowling Green, Ky.) reached on a fielder's choice, but an error at second base caused everyone to be safe and allowed two runs to score. Clay Ragland (Chillicothe, Ohio) sealed the victory with a game-ending, two-run double to left for a 12-2 Bulldog victory.

Ragland finished the game by going 2-for-5 with three RBIs, while Engle went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two driven in. Nelson Price (Burkesville, Ky.) helped out with a 2-for-3, two-RBI performance.

Union will close out the regular season on the road Friday and Saturday taking on Milligan (Tenn.) in a three-game, Appalachian Athletic Conference series.
