Williamsburg, Ky. – On Thursday, January 24th University of the Cumberlands (UC) will hold a drawing for a signed basketball by University of Kentucky’s Head Basketball Coach John Calipari (Cal).
The basketball was signed by Coach Cal as a gesture to help Head Coach Melissa Irvin, UC women’s basketball, with her second annual Barefoot for Bare Feet game that will be held at 6:00 pm on January 24th. All proceeds that are collected from the basketball will go directly to Samaritan’s Feet to help buy socks and shoes for children in need.
The raffle drawing will be held following the women’s game at halftime of UC’s men’s basketball game that night. Raffle tickets are on sale now and will be sold until the start of halftime of the men’s basketball game. All tickets are $1 and you do not have to be present at the game to win the prize.
The goal for this year’s Bare Foot game is to raise $3,000 so that Samaritan’s Feet will set-up a shoe distribution in Southeastern Kentucky to help the local community children in need.
Anyone wishing to buy a raffle ticket can contact Shane Anglin, UC Special Events Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 859-358-9165. Any questions about the event may be directed towards him as well.
Anyone wanting to be a contributor to the cause and donate can visit Coach Irvin’s website at http://samaritansfeet.myetap.org/fundraiser/fundraisingpage/aboutEvent.do and search for “Melissa Irvin.”
