Slump Continues for Union Nine

COLUMBIA, Ky. - No. 12 Union's woes continued Tuesday as the Bulldogs suffered their fourth loss in a row, suffering a 10-5 defeat at Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).

The loss drops Union to 2-4 overall, while Lindsey Wilson is now 4-3.

The Blue Raiders jumped out to an early lead, scoring two in the first and four in the second for a 6-0 cushion. Leandro Perez belted a three-run home run in the second.

Union cut the deficit to 6-2 in the third thanks to a Carter Sibley (Shepherdsville, Ky.) two-run homer, the first of his collegiate career.

Lindsey Wilson added a run in the fifth to take a 7-2 advantage, but Union rallied in the sixth to pull within two. Tim DeVito (Glendale, Ariz.) lined a two-run double. Cory Perreault (Phoenix, Ariz.) then grounded out to second to allow pinch-runner Vance Sullivan (Verona, Ky.) to score, making it 7-5.

However, the Raiders tacked on three runs in seventh for a five-run lead, sealing the 10-5 victory.

DeVito finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Brandon Hedrick (Corbin, Ky.) went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Union returns to action Wednesday when it plays host to Cumberlands (Ky.) at 2:30 p.m.
