Smith scores 30 in loss at Longwood

Farmville, Virginia - Darius Smith scored 30 points but it was not enough as host Longwood posted an 85-74 exhibition victory over UVa-Wise on Wednesday.

The 30 points for Smith was a game high but Longwood overcame the scoring outburst by shooting nearly 53 percent from the field and out-rebounding the Cavaliers 48-30.

Tristan Carey’s 9-20 shooting performance powered the Lancers as he finished with a team best 24 points. Teammate Martiz Washington chipped in 17 points while Antwan Carter scored 13 points in the win. Travis Berry, 13 points and Josh Jordan, 11 points joined Smith in double-figure scoring for the Cavaliers.

UVa-Wise will wrap up regular season play on Saturday when the team travels to Pikeville for a Mid-South match up. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Eastern Kentucky Expo Center.
