Soccer to host Northern Kentucky and visit Ohio

MOREHEAD, Ky. (WYMT) -- The Morehead State soccer team will look to secure its first victory of the season versus Northern Kentucky Friday at Jayne Stadium, before traveling to take on Ohio Sunday.

With a pair of goals in the season opener at Ohio State, junior forward Macy Cobb is now only one away from tying her 2012 tally of three,
which tied for the team lead.

The Eagles enter play this week as the Ohio Valley Conference leaders in corner kicks with 20. MSU's four assists and four goals rank fourth and
fifth best in the OVC.

Sophomore defender Kimberly Golden scored her first goal of the season in the 2-1 loss with Akron, as she headed in a corner kick by Caity
Fox. Golden's three goals in 2012 tied for the team lead.

Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Seeman made a career best five saves in the 2-0 loss at No. 10 West Virginia. The Copley, Ohio, native has
faced 39 shots in her two matches this season.

Through four matches, the Eagles have faced three opponents that won their respective conference tournament or regular season championships. Ohio State is the defending Big Ten Tournament champion, while St. Francis (Pa.) claimed Northeast Conference regular season honors and West Virginia is defending Big 12 Tournament Champion.


NKU has opened the season 1-2-1, with its lone win coming Sunday in a 1-0 decision over OVC member Tennessee Tech. The Norse, who are
members of the Atlantic Sun Conference, also secured a 0-0 draw with fellow OVC member Murray State.

Morehead State faces NKU for the third time in program history. The Norse hold a 2-0 record in the all-time series, with the last meeting coming
Sept. 15, 1999, when NKU pulled out a 2-1 victory over the Eagles in overtime.

Ohio returns seven starters from a team that finished 8-10-1 in 2012, including a 1-0 road victory over MSU.

The Bobcats picked up the first career win on Sunday for newly appointed head coach Aaron Rogers with a 5-1 triumph over OVC foe Eastern Kentucky.
