MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State softball team completed its fall schedule at Marshall on Sunday, splitting two close matchups with host Marshall and Ohio Valley.

"We had a very successful fall season,” said head coach David Williams. “There is a great foundation to build upon as we get ready for the spring season. We will now shift our focus to getting ready for our 2012 schedule."

The Eagles dropped a tough battle with Marshall 8-6 in the day’s first game. Senior Sam Woodall hit 3-4 with a double, while sophomores Jamie Massaro and Stephanie Etter each went 2-3 in the loss. Junior Adrena Anderson scored twice for the Eagles, while freshman pitcher Brittni Chapman struck out four Herd batters.

Morehead State bounced back in its second game of the day, defeating Ohio Valley 3-2. Etter recorded the game winning RBI, knocking in junior Elizabeth Wagner in the seventh inning. Senior pitcher Ashley Imperial tallied the win for the Eagles.

MSU opens its spring season at the College of Charleston tournament on Feb. 17-19 in Charleston, S.C.
