WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Tennis team is currently participating in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Tournament Semifinals as they advanced by defeating Cumberland University earlier this morning. On Thursday, the MSC announced its yearly honors and many Patriot ladies garnered high awards.
UC's Neesha Thirumalaichelvam (Selangor, Malaysia) was named the 2014 Mid-South Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year.
Thirumalaichelvam had a 14-2 singles record against opponents this spring and a 12-4 doubles record for the Patriots. She was one of the 10 women selected to the MSC All-Conference First Team by the conference coaches.
Joining her was Chanel Williams (Cincinnati, OH) as she also earned MSC All-Conference First Team and Sydni Grimes (Forest Park, OH) earned MSC All-Conference Second Team.
The Mid-South Conference Women's Tennis Tournament continues on Friday with two semifinal matches beginning at 9 a.m. at the Lackey Tennis Center in Georgetown. The No. 5 seeded Patriots will take on No. 1 seeded Lindsey Wilson College.
