Tim Pierce Signs On With Railsplitters

HARROGATE, TN -- Standout guard Tim Pierce from Albany High School (GA) has signed a national letter of intent to play at Lincoln Memorial University, LMU head coach Josh Schertz announced Friday. Pierce is the second signee of the spring period, joining guard Curtis Webb.

The list of accolades for Pierce is long. Carrying a 3.6 grade point average, the 6'2, 185 pound combo guard was named The Albany Herald Player of the Year after averaging 19 points, 7.6 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. Pierce was a three-time First Team All-Region selection and was named First Team All-State in both 2011 and 2012. He was named the Region Player of the Year in 2012 while leading his team to the most wins in school history along with an Elite 8 appearance in the Class AA State Playoffs. Pierce scored 1,422 points to rank third in school history and was a 4 year starter for the Indians on the hardwood. He also participated on the school's golf, track and cross country teams.

"We've been recruiting Tim really hard for a long time," said head coach Josh Schertz. "We felt like losing the caliber of players we lost off last years team, that we really needed to hit a home run from a talent standpoint this spring and we certainly did that with Tim. He's a point guard that can score. He's a playmaker. He can be a great facilitator and also a great finisher himself. We've been really fortunate to have some terrific guards here but Tim may be the most talented guard we have recruited taking everything into consideration--speed, strength, ability to slide, stroke, vision, and handles.

"Our fans will love him because he is so responsible and disciplined. He is a great student and will be very competitive here in the classroom. We are very excited to welcome Tim and his parents Patrick and Sherry along with his grandfather Kerry into our family."
The Railsplitters will return 70% of their scoring and 8 of their top 11 scorers in 2012-13 from a team that posted a 26-6 mark and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Southeast Region Semifinals in 2011-12. Over the last three seasons Lincoln Memorial ranks #1 in the Southeast Region in winning percentage (81.3%) having posted a 74-17 record during this time period.
