CORBIN, Ky. (WYMT) -- Bowling Green is the destination that the Corbin Lady Redhounds want to punch their ticket to in March 2014.
"Last year was great," senior forward Sarah Ashley said. "But it's over. And obviously we want to go back and now, having been there, it just makes us that much more eager to get back there."
"We all get along really well so we have great team chemistry," senior guard Miranda Wilson said. "We are all pretty experienced. It motivates everyone because you want to go back."
The Corbin Lady Redhounds are aiming to get back to the Sweet 16 like they did in the 2012-13 season, but this time it will have to be with a new head coach. Jennifer Parsons is gone, Jason McDaniel is in and changes are being made.
"Coach McDaniel and coach Parsons are similar, but we are putting more emphasis on full court and changing up our defenses," senior guard Brooklyn Ashursrt said. "And our offense is pretty much the same but he's switching things up a lot defensively."
The low post will be without Holly Disney, who graduated in May. Other than that, Corbin brings a lot of experienced players back.
"Holly played a big part," Bryanna Moore, who is the senior center, said. "She was big inside, but we have people who can step up and fill her shoes. We may not be as big or as tall but we will get the job done."
"Obviously we return three starting guards from last season, and we have several girls that can come off the bench and play good on the perimeter and obviously we are very strong in that area," Ashursrt said.
And so it starts. The three month path back to Bowling Green.
