Top 10 Roundball Preview: No. 8 Cordia Lions

LOTTS CREEK, Ky (WYMT) - Work hard, those two words were muttered numerous times by the Cordia Lions, when talking about the upcoming season.

The Lions are coming off a 19-10 season in a tough 14th region, that won't change, if anything with all the returning talent in the 14th it will be even tougher.

Head Coach Roderick Rhodes reflected back on last season, “Well what I'm hoping the returning guys pull from that is understanding the difference between winning and losing, and the inches, and that one possession or that one rebound or that one box out or that one lay-up that could have made the difference in the game. We really believe that when hard work meets talent, that's greatness.”

Senior Guard Felix Frimpong said, “We're making sacrifices, sharing the ball. We're not going into the game thinking we're going to have 30 a game. We're going to share the ball, we're going to do it equally.”

The Lions say they are motivated heading into the 2013-2014 season.

Senior Guard AJ Tagaloa said, “We are just trying to work hard, we know there's 3 teams in front of us in the ranking that's better than us, we're just trying to get better.”

Senior Forward Malik Hines said, “We are an ok team right now, we're just trying to get better, but we know once we get on the floor we're just trying to compete.”

Senior Christen Cunningham said, “It's going to be good, it's going to be fun. Hopefully if we all buy in and make sacrifices, we'll be playing at Rupp on the last game of the season, it'll be fun.”

Expect the Cordia Lions to make some noise in the 14th region.
