WISE, Va. - Officials at the NAIA announced the league’s scholar-athlete team for the sport of softball on Wednesday. UVa-Wise had two student-athletes named to the team as senior Natasha Dean earned the award and junior Kristina Romualdo made the team in her first season eligible.
A Kingsport, Tenn. Native, Dean graduated from the College this spring with a degree in sport management. The former outfielder completed her coursework with a 3.64 grade point average in her two years at UVa-Wise.
Junior first baseman Kristina Romualdo was named to the squad after posting a 3.64 grade point average through her first three years at the College. A Virginia Beach, Va. native, Romualdo is studying accounting and is on pace to graduate from UVa-Wise in the spring of 2014.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be at least a junior in academic standing and have maintained a 3.5 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale. In addition, the student-athlete must be in good standing with the academic institution in which they attend.
