The University of the Cumberlands (UC) athletic programs have continued their rapid growth and rising within the NAIA and the Mid-South Conference. Both the women’s soccer team and the newly started archery team added another piece to their puzzle this season as Shelby Lynn Miller has signed to join both programs in 2012-2013.
Miller is the daughter of Ronda and Russell Miller and hails from Ekron, Kentucky. She will graduate from Meade County High School in May. While at Meade County, Shelby was a two sport athlete and plans to continue that at UC. She has been a varsity starter for her soccer team since her sophomore season while shooting for the archery team as well.
When asked about joining UC, Miller said, “I’m very excited about coming to UC. I know this wonderful school will help me succeed in accomplishing my goals and dreams in life.”
Archery Head Coach Kris Strebeck commented, “Shelby has been involved in archery for a long time. Not only has she competed in the NASP program, but she has competed in ASA 3D tournaments as well. She will be a huge asset to our program and we look forward to having her join the team. Her energetic and outgoing attitude will mesh well with the team we currently have in place.”
Women’s Soccer Head Coach Russell Stewart added, “The UC Women’s Soccer is proud to welcome Shelby Miller to the program. She has a lot of potential and is a very talented player. We hope to see her in a starting role within a year or two in the program. ”
