HAZARD Ky. (WYMT) - Back in 2011, Rockcastle County forward Sara Hammond represented the WYMT coverage in the McDonald's All American game in Chicago. Now Hammond is one of the top players for the 15th ranked Louisville Cardinals. Thursday we found out two coverage area players have a chance to play in Chicago like Hammond did in 2011.
On the girls side, Sheldon Clark guard Katelyn Newsome was nominated to play in the game which will be held on April 3rd at the United Center. she has helped lead the #6 Lady Cardinals to a 9-3 record so far this season.
On the boys side, Pulaski County guard Taylor Gover was one of 10 players from the state of Kentucky nominated for the McDonald's All American game. Gover has helped lead the #3 Maroons to a 15-3 record so far this season.
