The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men’s Golf team continues to receive numerous post-season awards after an impressive 2011-2012 season. Adding to the list of great accomplishments is senior Aaron Watkins (Harlan, KY) who was named to the PING NAIA All-Region Team for the South Region. This is Watkins third year being named to the PING All-American team, as he was 3rd team in 2010, 2nd team in 2011, and now 1st team this year.
Watkins had a phenomenal senior season this year for the Patriots as he not only led the men’s team to a Mid-South Conference (MSC) Championship, but was named Mid-South Conference Player of the Year as well as to the Academic All Conference team. His season included 5 wins on the year including the Bill Sergent Invitational, the Southern Wesleyan Invite, the 19th Annual SEKI, the MSC Spring Invite, as well as the MSC Championship. He also accumulated 8 top 10 finishes this season. In his career, Watkins won 22% of the tournaments he participated in, as well as finished in the Top 10 about 70% of the time.
Head Coach Chris Kraftick commented “Aaron continues to receive a great deal of attention for an outstanding season and career at UC. This is another nice honor for him as he turns the page to a professional career.”
