LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The University of Kentucky has been dethroned in the national cheerleading competition.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that UK lost its title to the University of Memphis on Sunday.

UK won the Universal Cheerleaders Association College National championship in Orlando, Fla., for the 19th time last year. UK has failed to win the national championship just four times since 1995 and has reclaimed the title in the following year each time it lost.

Morehead State University won its 22nd national coed title in its division Saturday, according to the association.

Morehead's all-girl squad placed second.
