UK guard play the difference

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky's guards have been inconsistent this season but they combined for a devastating performance in Saturday's overtime win over Missouri. Coach John Calipari said his team was able to play through mistakes.

Julius Mays, Archie Goodwin and Ryan Harrow combined for 58 points, 17 rebounds and ten assists. Calipari has talked many times of his players hanging their head after making a mistake, but that wasn't the case against Missouri. "I mean we had some bad turnovers late, in regulation bad turnovers but we just kept playing. Two weeks ago those turnovers would have led us to let go of the rope and we didn't today. But again, our guard play, when our guard play is good we'll be fine."

Goodwin committed seven turnovers in the game but he ignited the Cats at the start of the 2nd half with a 3-pointer, then a steal and a slam to put Kentucky in front. He finished with 18 points, hitting 7-12 from the field. "We're figuring it out. It just mainly comes from us talking to each other and as long as we continue to talk, then I think we'll be fine. But if we don't talk that's when things started happening, that's when problems start arising."
