LEXINGTON, Ky. (WYMT) - It was announced Sunday that new Kentucky head football coach Mark Stoops will earn a base salary of $11 million dollars over the course of a five year contract.

The contract also includes incentives and bonuses for Stoops based on successes in Southeastern Conference play and bowl games.

One of those incentives is once Stoops wins one SEC game in a given season, he will earn $100,000 for each additional conference win.

The contract also states that Stoops will earn an additional $100,000 for winning the SEC East division, and $200,000 for winning the SEC championship or participating in the Bowl Championship Series.

There are also bonuses for the head coach if the student athletes excel in the classroom. According to the contract, if the Kentucky football team achieves a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better in any academic year, Stoops will be rewarded, in addition to his base salary, $25,000.

The contract requires the University of Kentucky to pay Stoops if it fires him, with the amount based on when the termination occurs.
