LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - University of Kentucky football coach Joker Phillips traded in his coaching hat for a bass guitar for a short time this summer.
Phillips made a cameo appearance in a music video for recording artist J.D. Shelburn, a Taylorsville native. Shelburn told the Lexington Herald-Leader (bit.ly/Qfwfs6) that he met Phillips at the Barnstable Brown party before the Kentucky Derby and they hit it off. A few phone calls later, Phillips made his music video debut.
UK media relations types were mum about whether or not the coach, who is in a white T-shirt, jeans and sunglasses throughout the video, can actually play the bass.
University spokeswoman Susan Lax says the video was filmed at Shelburne's grandparents' farm in late July.
