PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Riding a five-game winning streak, the University of Pikeville baseball team will look for more on Thursday, hosting Asbury (Ky.) in the 2014 home opener for a 1 p.m. ET doubleheader at Johnnie Lemaster Field.
A live audio broadcast of all the action is available here, while live stats are available on the NAIA DakStats site.
While the Bears come into the games with a 5-2 record, the Eagles haven’t had much time on the field this season, losing their only game at Union (Ky.) 3-0 on Feb. 11. Asbury catcher Landon Skaggs was the only player to register multiple hits in the lineup, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.
It was a staffed game on the mound for the Eagles as six pitchers saw action, while Zach Settle got the start, walking four batters with one strikeout in two innings.
UPIKE is off to a hot start with the help of three hot bats, including outfielder Connor Osborne with a .556 batting average, tallying a double, RBI and scoring two runs. Designated hitter Sean Ryan is batting .471 with six RBIs and a double and third baseman Erik Manning is at .333 with a home run and four runs batted in.
Manning, and catcher Cody Chagnon have both already gone yard this season with Chagnon hitting two over against at Tougaloo (Miss.).
