UPike hoping to keep strong relationship with eastern Kentucky athletes

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - UPike was down in Hazard Saturday afternoon conducting a camp and playing a scrimmage.

When it comes to recruiting, the Bears focus a lot on the eastern Kentucky area, and head coach dudley hilton says coming down to Perry County for a spring scrimmage helps them keep a strong relationships with the student athletes of this region.

"Being here in Hazard, it's the center of where we recruit from; from the Bell County area, the Clay County area, down to Breathitt (County) and that way so it gives us a good hand on this part of the state," says Hilton. "This is where we want our kids to come from as much as we can so just bringing the show on the road kind of really helps us in recruiting, you know."
