PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) -- UPike freshman quarterback and former Belfry Pirate Sani Warren will start this Saturday when the Bears travel to Morehead State.
Warren threw for 346 yards and five touchdowns in his college debut.
“That was a good game. That was a great game and I'm sure that that won't happen every game,” Warren said. “I just want to go out with the same mentality that I did before this game, before my previous game against Bluefield State.
I just want to go out and manage the ball and put the ball in the athletes hands and let those guys work because that's their forte. They make the plays really and just trust the line. I know the line is going to give us a lot of time. They always do a great job and just rally around the senior leadership on our team.”
The Bears defeated Bluefield by 22 points (62-40) in their opener while the Eagle fell to No. 20 Richmond 55-10.
“I really don't know much about Morehead State -- not yet,” Warren said Sunday night. “Tonight, film was about the team. I look forward to just being able to compete and just be able to represent the University of Pike and just go out and just give it our best and look up at the scoreboard and see what happens after.”
