Wise, Va. - Head Coach Karen Bitter recently signed All-Region third baseman Whitney Williams to play softball at UVa-Wise. Whitney Williams is from Charleston, South Carolina and plays third base and shortstop for West Ashley High School. In the 2012 season, Whitney earned All-Region 4A honors and maintained a .933 fielding percentage. Whitney has also maintained honor roll status during her time at West Ashley.

"Whitney shows a lot of dedication and hard work on the softball field and in the classroom. We are really looking forward to having Whitney as a Cavalier next season."

Whitney is the daughter of Twila Williams-Sabin and Robert Williams of Charleston, SC. She plans to pursue a degree in Nursing once reaching campus in the fall of 2013.

Wise, Va. - Head Coach Karen Bitter recently signed Woodbridge High School outfield star Alexa Hernandez to play softball at UVa-Wise. At Woodbridge, Hernandez garnered First-Team All-District accolades last season, and has been a starter on Varsity since her freshman year. Hernandez has also been a part of one of the top travel ball teams in the country, The Shamrocks 18U.

"We are thrilled to announce the signing of Alexa. Alexa will be a great addition to our team, and Cavalier family. She is an experienced outfielder who can cover a lot of ground; she also has the power to drive the ball and hit homeruns."

In addition to softball, Hernandez also plays basketball for Woodbridge. She is the daughter of Alex and Tiffany Hernandez.
