BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union head baseball coach Bart Osborne recently announced the Bulldogs' 2013 schedule, which features 38 home contests and match-ups against a number of ranked teams.
Union opens the season on the road on Feb. 2 with a doubleheader at Cumberlands (Ky.), but the rest of February - 15 games in all, are at Jerry W. Carey Stadium. The Bulldogs' home-opening series will be against Davenport (Mich.) on Feb. 8-10 with single, nine-inning games each day at 2 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 1 p.m. the remaining two dates.
The Bulldogs will play eight Appalachian Athletic Conference, three-game series with four at home and four on the road. The conference slate begins March 1-2 at Point (Ga.) with the conference home opener set for March 9-10 against AAC newcomer St. Andrews (N.C.).
In addition, Union will play five teams ranked in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 Poll, including No. 1 and defending national champion Tennessee Wesleyan. Union will host Tennessee Wesleyan for a three-game, conference series on March 23-24. The Bulldogs also play host to No. 3 Lee (Tenn.) on Feb. 19 for a single game and No. 9 Faulkner (Ala.) on April 20-21 for a three-game set. Union will play a home-and-home series with No. 12 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and No. 20 Georgetown (Ky.).
Union also faces two teams which received votes in the preseason poll - Davenport and AAC rival Bryan (Tenn.).
Union went 35-21 overall and 16-8 in the AAC. The Bulldogs advanced to the AAC Tournament championship game as well.
