BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College Interim Director of Athletics Tim Curry announced Thursday the AD Honor Roll for the spring of 2012 with over 130 student-athletes being honored.
A total of 19 student-athletes recorded a G.P.A. of 4.0, while 108 others posted a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher. In all, 127 student-athletes made the honor roll.
"We are very proud of the success our student-athletes produce on the field of play, but we take special pride in how they excel in the classroom," said Curry. "Academics is a priority at Union. We are committed to creating a well-rounded person to better prepare them for life after college."
Five programs had 10 or more student-athletes to make the list. Baseball led the way with 15, while women's soccer had 14 but led all programs with six student-athletes recording a 4.0. Football had 11 student-athletes make the list, and women's basketball and softball each had 10.
Volleyball narrowly missed the double-digit mark, finishing with nine student-players on the honor roll.
Six programs recorded a team G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher. Women's basketball led the way with a 3.23 team G.P.A. The other programs with a 3.0 or higher are women's golf, women's soccer, women's swimming, men's swimming and men's bowling.
