Jackson, Tennessee - Union University lived up to its number two national ranking with a 99-55 victory over UVa-Wise in non-conference action on Monday.
In the victory, the Bulldogs hit 15 three pointers en route to a 50 percent shooting performance. The 15 three pointers marked the most surrendered by the Cavaliers this season.
Union was lead by Lavanda Ross who scored 28 points on ten of 15 shooting; the forward nearly recorded a triple double as Ross finished with ten rebounds and seven assists. Shelby Ashcraft, 16, Mildred Olumasi, 14, and Astrid Huttermann, 14 also finished in double figure scoring for Union. The Cavaliers were led by Chelsea Cluesman who finished with 17 points on seven of 12 shooting; teammate Kristin Mullins also finished in double figures with 14 points.
UVa-Wise will return to Mid-South action on Thursday when the team hosts St. Catharine College. Tipoff Is set for 6:00 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and the game can be heard on 92.1 WDIC.
