ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Union senior center Lindsey Waters is the Appalachian Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

This is the first time Waters has received the honor this season, but it is the seventh time in her career she has earned the award.

The Stearns, Ky., native averaged 18 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game last week as Union went 2-0. In the 77-48 win over Montreat, Waters recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds. With those 12 rebounds, she became the ninth player in program history to record 500 career rebounds and first to do so in only two seasons. Waters has 501 career rebounds. She had 20 points, nine rebounds and six blocked shots in the 59-55 win at Reinhardt.

For the season, Waters leads conference in scoring (18.71 PPG), rebounding (9.57 RPG) and blocks (3.86 BPG). She ranks No. 2 in NAIA Division II in total blocks (54) and 12th in national in points per game and rebounds per game.

Union, ranked No. 18 in the NAIA, is 11-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

The next AAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award will be announced on Jan. 14.

Union returns to action Tuesday when it visits Virginia Intermont at 5:30 p.m.
