MOREHEAD, Ky. - Not only is the Morehead State volleyball team still undefeated and leading the Ohio Valley Conference at 7-0, but the Eagles are also getting some national recognition. In the latest NCAA stats release (Oct. 3), MSU ranks in the top 15 in Division I national categories and also has three players ranked among the nation's best as individuals.
As a team, the Eagles rank 13th in the nation in kills per set at 14.29. As a direct result of the Eagles' offensive efficiency, MSU ranks 14th in the nation in assists per set at 13.39.
Individually, junior setter Caitlin Clark, the four-time OVC Setter of the Week, ranks ninth in the nation in assists per set at 11.61. Junior outside hitter Ellie Roberson ranks 35th nationally in kills per set at 4.16. Sophomore libero Leslie Schellhaas falls into the national rankings at 35th in digs per set at 5.09.
In addition, the Eagles rank among the nation's and region's best teams in the unofficial volleyball rankings percentage index, through RichKern.com. MSU ranks 70th in the latest RKPI. The first official NCAA RPI rankings will be released at a later date.
Morehead State leads the OVC in kills, assists, hitting percentage and lowest opponent hitting percentage.
The Eagles host a pair of OVC matches this weekend, battling Tennessee Tech Friday at 7 p.m. and Jacksonville State Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.
