ATLANTA - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced Tuesday the 2013 WBCA National Intercollegiate Athletic Association (NAIA) Coaches' All-America Team, and Union center Lindsey Waters landed on the squad as an honorable mention.
The Stearns, Ky., native is only the second Lady Bulldog to make the WBCA All-America Team. Like Waters, Brooke Smith earned a spot on the team twice, once in 2007-08 and again in 2009-10.
The WBCA All-America Team was selected by a vote of the selection committee. The committee is comprised of one representative from each of the nine geographical regions and a chairperson. Additionally, the WBCA All-America Team is made up of both members of NAIA Division I and Division II.
Waters led Union in scoring (16.2 points per game), rebounding (9.9 rebounds per game) and blocks (92). She set school records for most blocked shots in a season and double-doubles in a career (33).
Nationally, Waters ranked third in total blocks, blocks per game (3.172), eighth in defensive rebounds per game (6.828), 10th in total rebounds per game and 15th in total rebounds (287).
Waters was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Co=Player of the Year as well as to the All-AAC First Team, the AAC All-Defensive Team and the Academic All-AAC Team. She also made the CoSIDA Academic All-America College Division Second Team and is a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete.
For her career, Waters ranks 12th all-time in scoring (1,152 points), fifth in rebounding (653) and second in blocks (174).
Union finished the season 21-10 overall and 12-6 in conference play.
